PRESS RELEASE: Clearwater Life Care Planner Writes Elder Care Workbook
New Book Release: A Personalized Guide to Life-Care Planning for Elders & Caregivers
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CLEARWATER, FL – Maureen Rulison, a local Board-certified Patient Advocate, recently released a new life-care planning workbook on Amazon. “Because I Love You: My Book About Me” is an essential guide with a personalized approach to elder care that emphasizes individuality, team-building and creating a life worth living.
It can be used by aging individuals themselves or by care-partner teams to organize the care process. The interactive workbook also effectively documents personal wishes for aging and the death transition – and beyond.
Copies can be purchased at www.amazon.com/dp/B0D3VPR9C8.
“I can’t express enough the importance of a well-crafted and documented life-care plan,” said Rulison, who is President and Founder of Caregiver Support and Resources, LLC of Clearwater, FL. “In nearly 30 years as a care planner, the most chaos and uncertainty always results from not having a clear roadmap to the future. I’ve seen families torn apart over medical decisions and estate disputes.
“So I took a planning book I’ve used with clients for years and expanded upon it to help our elder loved ones and care partners plan for compassion.”
The workbook takes users through four easy steps to organize important legal and financial documents, identify primary care partners and chronicle care wishes. These steps guide readers through the creation of a personalized care plan that addresses all aspects of healthy and meaningful living:
- Step 1: Let’s Get to Know Each Other
Build a strong partnership with their primary and extended care partners. Document medical realities, care needs and end-of-life preferences. - Step 2: Tools for Living Your Best Life
Explore practical tools and resources for living a fulfilling life. From financial management to accessing medical care, this step helps to plan physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. - Step 3: Taking Care of Those Who Take Care of Us
Acknowledge and support caregivers by brainstorming strategies to build a robust support network and ensuring they receive the necessary assistance and resources. - Step 4: Final Stages Planning
Navigate the final stages of life with compassion and dignity, exploring end-of-life preferences, legal and financial considerations, and practical steps for a death with dignity.
Throughout the book, Rulison provides expert professional and personal perspectives. Interactive questions help readers and their care partners chronicle needs and consider overlooked realities. The workbook also introduces readers to professionals from Caregiver Support and Resources, LLC’s referral system in the Clearwater, FL area.
The inspiration for “Because I Love You: My Book About Me” came from Rulison’s life partner, Brian LeBlanc, who lives with Alzheimer’s disease and vascular dementia. Several years ago, before LeBlanc’s dementia entered advanced stages, he recorded a video to his future care partners expressing care wishes.
“Brian’s video was the ultimate act of love,” Rulison said. “What better way to honor your loved ones than to tell your story and spell out, in detail, how you wish to be treated when you can no longer advocate for yourself? It’s that spirit that guides this book.”
