The inspiration for “Because I Love You: My Book About Me” came from Rulison’s life partner, Brian LeBlanc, who lives with Alzheimer’s disease and vascular dementia. Several years ago, before LeBlanc’s dementia entered advanced stages, he recorded a video to his future care partners expressing care wishes.

“Brian’s video was the ultimate act of love,” Rulison said. “What better way to honor your loved ones than to tell your story and spell out, in detail, how you wish to be treated when you can no longer advocate for yourself? It’s that spirit that guides this book.”
