Founder, Caregiver Support and Resources, LLC
Maureen Rulison founded Caregiver Support and Resources, LLC in 2004 with a mission rooted in compassion, planning, and empowerment. Her journey began in her twenties while working for the State of Florida’s Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services in the Medicaid for Aged and Disabled Individuals division. There, she gained deep expertise in Florida Medicaid policy—and more importantly, firsthand insight into the daily realities faced by elders in assisted living facilities and nursing homes.
After leaving state employment in 1999, Maureen began working directly with families, guiding them through the complexities of Medicaid and VA Aid & Attendance eligibility. Her goal was always clear: protect assets, preserve dignity, and ensure access to the care people deserve.
That same year, two experiences reshaped her vision—becoming a Certified Eden Alternative Associate and forming a lasting connection with the Alzheimer’s Association. These experiences shifted her work beyond eligibility and asset planning into deeply personalized, life-centered care planning. She saw what so many families struggle to grasp until it’s too late: failure to plan is planning to fail.
Over time, her work evolved into a comprehensive approach that includes Medicaid planning, aging-in-place strategies, and person-focused life care plans. Recognizing the importance of legal guidance, Maureen has cultivated partnerships with trusted elder law firms to ensure every care journey is complete and protected.
Driven by decades of experience and her dedication to those living with dementia-related illnesses, Maureen has become a national voice in dementia care and person-centered planning. Her commitment is not only professional—it’s deeply personal.
For many years, Maureen was the care partner to her beloved life partner, Brian LeBlanc, who lived courageously with Alzheimer’s disease and vascular dementia. Together, they co-created We Are Dementia Strong, a powerful educational platform built to elevate the voices of persons living with dementia and to equip care partners with insight and hope. Though Brian has since passed, his legacy remains at the heart of everything Maureen does.
Through these personal and professional journeys, Maureen has built not only a company, but a community—a village of trusted referral partners and like-minded professionals dedicated to creating a life worth living at every stage of care.
